{CP} Simply Responsive

Live Demo

A simply responsive child theme compatible up to version 3.6+, which enhances ClassiPress with many new features and adjustments (3.4.x & 3.3.x versions still available, just give me a shout).

CP Simply Responsive has been designed to fit well on MOBILE devices with a strong emphasis on UI – in other words, User Interaction. Everything we do with this theme is designed with the user (ie: your customers) in mind. No unnecessary gimmicks, css transitions or flashing animations, purely simple and functional.

  • NEW: Added master RTL css.
  • NEW: Added anchor links to the next and previous ads buttons.

  • Added Function compatibility with the “Critic” plugin.

  • Added New 300×250 Sponsored Ads Widget.
  • Added New ‘Sale Pending’ option, for items sold, but subject to collection.
  • Added ‘Featured’, ‘Sold’ and ‘Sale Pending’ label highlighters on Ads.
  • Added ‘Sold’ and ‘Sale Pending’ ribbons to the featured slider (makes sense, right).
  • Added ‘Go Back’ button on single ad and no ads found pages, which will take user back to the last page they came from.
  • Added ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ link buttons within the same category on the single ad page.
  • Added ‘Related Ads’ feature on the single ad pages.
  • Added ‘Featured’ tab on homepage.
  • Added Preloader graphic to image uploads, so users can gauge upload progress.
  • Added ‘Thank you for your order’ message to the order summary page.
  • Added Redirection of successful sidebar contact form to a “Thank you for your email enquiry” page (see README.txt).
  • Added Featured slider to display featured ads which are relevant to the category being viewed on the category pages. Please note, you must have at least 2 featured ads in each category for this to function correctly otherwise non-featured ads will duplicate themselves. This is a quirk of ClassiPress.

Please feel free to adjust backgrounds, text links, buttons and colors to suit your own branding. If you know a little css, this can easily be achieved. See one example HERE

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that this is a ClassiPress child theme. You will also need to purchase the ClassiPress main parent theme for it to function fully.

Where has my main menu and footer menu gone?
Sometimes this can disappear upon installation of a child theme. If this happens, simply go to your admin area: Appearance -> Menus and redefine your header and footer menu locations. Set you primary navigation to Header and your footer navigation to Footer.

In WP3.5- set this in your Theme Locations (top left panel).

In WP3.6+ you will find the settings have moved to the Manage Locations tab.

How can I share my own logo to facebook?
Please read the ADDITIONAL NOTES in the Support section]

How do I translate this child theme?
There is a simply-responsive.pot file inside the languages folder. Simply use PoEdit program to to add translation into your own language. For more information and guidance on how to use PoEdit, see here and here.

1. Download the zip file from your AppThemes account. Unzip the zip file. Inside the unzipped folder, you should see a README.txt file and another zip file. This is the zip file you need to upload to your server. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes – Install Themes tab and upload the zip file. Then simply activate.

2. Check the ‘Use SelectBox JS library’ checkbox
Appearance -> Customize -> Site

3. Ensure your permalinks are set correctly. WordPress -> Settings -> Set Permalinks to “Post name” and save the settings.

If your menus disappear, see the FAQs section.

If your images look squashed, see the Support section.

For the optional features, please read the README.txt file for set-up instructions.

Set-Up and Installation Support for this child theme can be found here: http://forums.appthemes.com/simply-responsive/.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Why do my images look distorted?
Since this theme uses larger images in a square consistent format, you will need to install and activate the “Force Regenerate Thumbnails” plugin to resize all your images to the new larger sizes.

Download the plugin here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

You should only need to do this once!
(Images uploaded to ads should be no less than 250px width and height)

Recommended logo sizes: Desktops / Tablets – minimum width = 226px / Mobiles – minimum width= 198px.

If you upload your logo to your images folder and your image has a different dimension, you will need to adjust the ‘cp_logo’ sizes in the style.css file accordingly.

If you upload your logo using the Classipress -> Settings -> General tab, then you will need to adjust the ‘.header_main_res #logo img’ in the style.css file accordingly.

Please feel free to adjust backgrounds and colors to suit your own branding, but please note, support is only provided for setup/installation and any bug fixing. We do not provide free support if you choose to further customize this theme. We will, of course, help you with any minor tweaks/adjustments.

How can I share my own logo to facebook?
To link to your own facebook page using the AddThis share plugin, you will need to have your own facebook account set up and your own app ID number. Simply replace the ID number in the head of the wrapper.php file with your own ID number and replace the fallback image URL with your own (see FAQs):

Make sure your logo is at least 200px x 200px or facebook will not recognise it.

      Hi!
      very nice theme!
      Considering buying it
Is there a way to set up the blog sa the home page?

This is not part of the child theme itself, but does rely on the parent theme and I believe there is an option for this built in to the wordpress settings. Settings->Reading – you can change the display of your front page.

    • ernesto

Do you offer set up services for this theme?
If you provide a email or contact form I could give more details

      thanks!

      Hi,

      Thank you.

      Hey Talent,

I bought “Simply Responsive” Yesterday, i like it very much, but i don’t know how to activate negotiable price option.

please let me know how to do that.

Hello, first of all thank you for your purchase and welcome to the simply gang 🙂

There is a readme.txt file inside the child theme folder with instructions on how to set up the price negotiable as well as instructions for other features.

If you have any problems setting up, simply email me direct or post your question in the child theme forum – located here.

Please take some time to read through the existing threads. You will find answers to most of your questions in there. You will note there are 3 sticky threads at the top to assist you – a troubleshooting and forum guide and some hot fixes for the theme.

      Kind Regards

Hello, I am not quite sure what you are asking here. As far as I know Classipress uses .po files for translation. However, I am aware that CP supports the WPML BRIDGE plugin. For more information see here. Thanks.

      Hi
First of all I love your theme, it looks fantastic.
Before I purchase is it possible to put a post code search (UK) with the search boxes in the header?

If you know how to add this feature, I don’t see why not. Anything is possible 🙂 and the child theme is fully customisable just as the main theme is. If you do go ahead with adding that, I’d quite like to see how you do it. I like the idea.

        Hello lreyes
I am sorry, I do not understand. What are you seeing? Maybe you can attach a link to an image that explains your problem.

Hello Leonardo, thank you for your purchase. I just sent you an email with a link to the simply responsive forum. I am not sure what you mean by “TAB/Menu to change theme options”. Are you talking about the Classpiress Settings? Please post your questions in the forum rather than in this comments area. I will be able to better serve you there. Alternatively, you may email me with an image of what you are referring to.

            Thanks
            Best Regards

Perfect theme, great design. Sarah cares a lot about her theme functionality. Generally, a Child Theme is nothing worth if nobody cares about it.

    • brianjester

      Hi Sarah,
I would like to test the admin demo for your simply responsive child theme. Can you provide a login and password to that area?

Note: I have tried using demo demo and admin demo and was locked out of the login page. It was incorrect login details:(

I appreciate it if you can send correct login details to me

      Thank you
      Brian

      • author
        talent

        Hi Brian,
The admin is no different from the main theme, therefore I do not have any demo for it. If anyone tries to login with a username “admin” they will automatically be locked out. I have this set up as security against robots and hackers. I will try to find you on the banned list and unlock you.

      • author

Ok Brian, I think I have unlocked you. Try it and let me know.

    • brianjester

      Hi,

I have purchased your theme a little while ago, and having lots of problems with the dashboard links, ex: login / register page doesn’t show up.

I am using Classipress 3.3.1 can you send me the fix to this? I read it earlier but forgot to mention before I ordered.

      Thank you
      Brian

        Hello again Brian

You did not reply to my email.

Yes, unfortunately you are going to have issues with the latest SR version if you have not upgraded to the latest version of CP 3.4. In the latest CP version AppThemes made some major changes to the dashboard, as well as other files. If you use the latest Simply Responsive (SR) version, you will also need to use the latest CP version of 3.4 for everything to work as expected.

You should have mentioned that you are still using an earlier version of CP. You will either need to upgrade your CP version to 3.4 for everything to work as expected or if you cannot do this, simply email me and I can supply an earlier version of SR which is compatible with your CP version.

Please bear in mind that if using an earlier version of SR, you will not have all the features that have been added since CP 3.3.1.

You would be better off upgrading CP to the latest version. Email me your preference.

        • brianjester

          Hi,

I will take an earlier version. As I plan to eventually upgrade to classipress 3.4.

          Thank you
          Brian

            talent

Ok I shall dig out an earlier version and email it to you in the morning – it’s 2.30am here now and am about to hit the pillow.

PS. I hope I still have a version for 3.3.1 – not sure if I ever did? Surely I must have done – will know by tomorrow morning!!!! Goodnight Brian

PPS. In future, can you please email me directly rather than continue messages via this “comment” section. Not sure if this is considered beneficial for everyone else to view this conversation here. Thanks

(I don’t know, maybe it is for version compatibility info)

    • brianjester

One more quick questions for you talent:

If I click the upgrade / renew link in my user dashboard on appthemes.com that will upgrade me to the latest version of classipress correct? I also get 1 free year of support correct? I will eventually do this, but I want to be sure before I do it, and first I want to go with an earlier version (if you have of the child-theme) that is compatible with classipress 3.3.1 so I can test it before I decide to upgrade 3.4 classipress.

      Thank you
      Brian

For me – Yes same great look and feel ! but on archives Vantage map needs to move beside grid layout then filter in sidebar.
          So:
          MAP – GRID – Sidebar
Like this but with a sidebar

Oh you don’t want much 🙂 Can I ask, how come you didn’t opt for that theme over Vantage?

Yeah sorry 🙂 forget the grid layout if you like – MAP – LIST – SIDEBAR will be fine ! 🙂
I have bought that theme but only Vantage can run non-google maps

            • Chris

plus that theme has no sidebar – and it is not good on phones

Don’t know why, but I can’t directly reply to your last two comments, so I will reply to the above…. All I can say is “peaks and troughs, pro’s and cons”. If only these themes were combined, we might have an awesome theme to work with 🙂

      hi,

How many featured ads the featured listing can show ?

      • author
        talent

This child theme does not have any admin settings to set the amount of featured ads shown in the slider. The settings for this can be found in the main Classipress theme. WP Admin Settings->Readings. They tend to be linked to the amount of (Blog pages show at most) ads you want to show per page. If you require any further info on this or how to modify these settings, please post a thread in the Help Using Classipress section of the main forum, where an appthemes moderator will be able to assist you.

        • depanneur

in the demo i can’t see the button where user can featured his ads

            talent

A user can select whether to have their ads featured or not when they Post an Ad. It should be in your form. If it isn’t then you must have disabled the feature in your admin. Simply enable it.

Please post in the “Help Using Classipress” forum, not here. This is just a place for people to ask pre-sales questions about my specific child theme.

            Thanks

The questions you are asking seem to be related to Classipress in general. This child theme does not alter the way Classipress functions. It only adds to it, by changing the design, having it respond better across mobile devices and adding, what I would call, “missing features”.

Can users post a classified ad with their mobile device? And take a photo of their item? There are some competitors emerging for Craigslist and they are making it very easy to post ads and pictures via their mobile device.

Since this is a child theme, and as such does not alter the way the main theme handles image uploads. The answer to your question is yes. With Classipress you can upload photos from your mobile device. What I and others have noticed is that Classipress does not automatically rotate the images like other themes such as Craiglist do. You will see a mention of this in the Classipress forum.

Hi talent, your theme looks pretty nice.
      I have two questions:
1- Is it possible to remove the Featured tab and create a stand alone Featured list? I don´t see the point to have a featured list hidden inside a tab, if the seller would pay for it.
2- This a more complex one. Do you think it´s possible to create, using classipress, a website that could separate items based on location? Let me give you an example:
on Home Page you could select a State and a City, the URL would be: “domain.com/california/sanfrancisco/”
      Then a category:
      “domain.com/california/sanfrancisco/electronics”
The way the theme works is very confusing to a person looking for products in a specific location or region.
      Thank your for any help.

        Hi Daniel

        Thank you

        1. The slider at the top lists the featured ads. The tab is just an extra, but if you don’t want it, it can easily be removed.

        2. As for listing ads by location. This is not a part of Classipress by default, but there are some plugins that can do something like this. Not sure about how they handle the permalinks though. One is called Statify Ultimate and the other is Dynamic Multi-Level Fields plugin, both by themebound.com. Go onto their website and check them out for yourself to see if they can do what you are asking.

        Regards
        Sarah

Thank you for your help Sarah, really appreciate.
That plugin is what i was looking for, although extremelly expensive.
Thank you very much, you are very nice.

            You are welcome Daniel

Yes, it is a little heavy on the purse strings, but well worth it if does what you want it to do – and a LOT cheaper than hiring someone to code it for you, that’s for sure.

Hi, thank you for your purchase. I will dig out a 3.3 copy and email it to you. But can I ask why you would not upgrade to Classipress 3.4?
