{CP} Simply Responsive

Live Demo

A simply responsive child theme compatible up to version 3.6+, which enhances ClassiPress with many new features and adjustments (3.4.x & 3.3.x versions still available, just give me a shout).

CP Simply Responsive has been designed to fit well on MOBILE devices with a strong emphasis on UI – in other words, User Interaction. Everything we do with this theme is designed with the user (ie: your customers) in mind. No unnecessary gimmicks, css transitions or flashing animations, purely simple and functional.

  • Added ‘Related Ads’ feature on the single ad pages.
  • Added ‘Featured’ tab on homepage.

  • Added Redirection of successful sidebar contact form to a “Thank you for your email enquiry” page (see README.txt).
  • Added Featured slider to display featured ads which are relevant to the category being viewed on the category pages. Please note, you must have at least 2 featured ads in each category for this to function correctly otherwise non-featured ads will duplicate themselves. This is a quirk of ClassiPress.

Please feel free to adjust backgrounds, text links, buttons and colors to suit your own branding. If you know a little css, this can easily be achieved. See one example HERE

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that this is a ClassiPress child theme. You will also need to purchase the ClassiPress main parent theme for it to function fully.

Where has my main menu and footer menu gone?
Sometimes this can disappear upon installation of a child theme. If this happens, simply go to your admin area: Appearance -> Menus and redefine your header and footer menu locations. Set you primary navigation to Header and your footer navigation to Footer.

In WP3.5- set this in your Theme Locations (top left panel).

In WP3.6+ you will find the settings have moved to the Manage Locations tab.

How can I share my own logo to facebook?
Please read the ADDITIONAL NOTES in the Support section]

How do I translate this child theme?
There is a simply-responsive.pot file inside the languages folder. Simply use PoEdit program to to add translation into your own language. For more information and guidance on how to use PoEdit, see here and here.

1. Download the zip file from your AppThemes account. Unzip the zip file. Inside the unzipped folder, you should see a README.txt file and another zip file. This is the zip file you need to upload to your server. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes – Install Themes tab and upload the zip file. Then simply activate.

2. Check the ‘Use SelectBox JS library’ checkbox
Appearance -> Customize -> Site

3. Ensure your permalinks are set correctly. WordPress -> Settings -> Set Permalinks to “Post name” and save the settings.

If your menus disappear, see the FAQs section.

If your images look squashed, see the Support section.

For the optional features, please read the README.txt file for set-up instructions.

Set-Up and Installation Support for this child theme can be found here: http://forums.appthemes.com/simply-responsive/.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Why do my images look distorted?
Since this theme uses larger images in a square consistent format, you will need to install and activate the “Force Regenerate Thumbnails” plugin to resize all your images to the new larger sizes.

Download the plugin here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

You should only need to do this once!
(Images uploaded to ads should be no less than 250px width and height)

Recommended logo sizes: Desktops / Tablets – minimum width = 226px / Mobiles – minimum width= 198px.

If you upload your logo to your images folder and your image has a different dimension, you will need to adjust the ‘cp_logo’ sizes in the style.css file accordingly.

If you upload your logo using the Classipress -> Settings -> General tab, then you will need to adjust the ‘.header_main_res #logo img’ in the style.css file accordingly.

Please feel free to adjust backgrounds and colors to suit your own branding, but please note, support is only provided for setup/installation and any bug fixing. We do not provide free support if you choose to further customize this theme. We will, of course, help you with any minor tweaks/adjustments.

How can I share my own logo to facebook?
To link to your own facebook page using the AddThis share plugin, you will need to have your own facebook account set up and your own app ID number. Simply replace the ID number in the head of the wrapper.php file with your own ID number and replace the fallback image URL with your own (see FAQs):

Make sure your logo is at least 200px x 200px or facebook will not recognise it.

Bouble, please ask all support questions in the support forum, thanks.

I have never seen that feature listed in Classipress. So I would say no. It’s not a feature of my child theme either.

    • ugyenphuntsho

Can i buy child themes through my mobile phone as i dont have laptop

Last question how do i remove the footer brand of classipress thems and wordpress i see end of the page thanks

    • author
      talent

Of course you can, any device is possible. Just click on the buy now or return to marketplace button on the demo page.

If you wish to change the footer information, you need to either adjust the footer.php file in the main Classipress theme, or copy it into the child theme and then adjust it there. At present there is no footer.php file in the child theme.

      Have a good weekend!

I try to instal as per instruct but still cant install child themes as is comming out install fail themes missing the style.css stylesheet

      So i dont understand thanks

    • author
      talent

I presume you managed to install the main Classipress theme ok? If not, then the child theme will not install without it. You do know what a child theme is, right? You can’t run a child theme without its parent theme.

Please use the support forum instead of making comments here.

Click on the “support” tab above for a direct link. It’s on the very first line.

      Thanks

Been checking out all your features for the last hour, and WOW… what a great child theme! Very intuititve, nearly everything I have been looking to ad to my existing childtheme is already in place! Also a half dozen plugins I have purchased in the marketplace will no longer be needed if I am able to make the switch from my existing child theme.

      A couple questions:
      1. It looks as if many of your plugins are built-in to the child them?… Or do they all need to be purchased separately from the theme? If so, do you have a package price for access to all of your plugins?

      2. I currently have a custom built child theme. Very simple, just controlling a couple basic functions (sold, and make offer tag). How difficult would if be to transition to your childtheme? Could you provide support in setting it up (for an additional cost)? I have a dev already set up for testing.

Hoping to make the switch ASAP please let me know your availability and setup/customization rates!

Hi and thanks for your interest.

      1. No plugins are built into the child theme, they are simply installed and activated on the demo for demo purposes. Yes, they need to be purchased separately.

      2. It shouldn’t be too difficult. You will need to back-up your own child theme first so that you can retrieve your own mods and put them into this child theme, if required. Yes, I can provide extra support if required. Always good to update and test on a test site before updating your live site, good work!

I received your private message and I shall answer all your other questions by email, but not until Mon, sorry. I have a very busy (birthday) weekend ahead and it’s just about to kick off with my first Christmas party of the year 🙂

Chat Monday, and please do not hesitate to give me a nudge should I forget.

      Have a good weekend!

Perhaps you need to take some time to familiarise yourself with how to use ClassiPress.

I looked at you site and you didn’t have any featured ads. In fact you only had 2 ads overall, so I created 4 featured sample ads for you.

You need at least 4 featured ads for the slider to display. Also, you need to have “Charge for listings” checked in the admin or no-one will be able to set their ads to be featured.

There are a fair few tutorials that AppThemes have provided for their products, see here: https://docs.appthemes.com/

      Hello

Just bought this theme and the latest version of CP.

I am about to install the theme, but your first instructions on the install section say…

Set the ‘Use SelectBox JS library’ to Yes
ClassiPress -> Settings -> Advanced tab

This is no where to be found under the advanced tab in Classipress settings – or anywhere else that I can see.

      Please advise?
      Thank you

      Hi tman50

Yes, I really need to update this instruction. Appthemes have now moved it to the Appearance->Customizer->Site section. Thanks for the heads up.

For further support for this child theme, please create a thread in the child theme forum:

      Hello talent,

I wrote in Reviews: – Why I can not to delete an image in my profile? Why this picture is displayed such a large in list of ads?

It was my fault. I used wrong plagin (User Photo). Plugin ‘WP User Avatar’ working well. I’m sorry for it. So, your child theme is not perfectly, but not very bad. Probably the best.

      Regards,

It didn’t go unnoticed and of course I was disappointed, but thanks for the apology. Perhaps you can write another review to make up for it 🙂

Hi, just wondering if this theme has extra ares for adsense ads or if it works fine with some of the plugins to integrate adsense ads that are for sell in the marketplace, I like the theme but i make money on my sites from adsense.

    • Parag

what is the ID and password for Demo user and Admin ?

    • author
      talent

@alex as with the main theme or any theme for that matter. You can choose where to place your Adsense code. I’ve seen many edit the homepage and place it under the search bar and under the ad loop, as well as directly placing the code in the sidebar files. It’s up to you.

    • author
      talent

@parag there isn’t any access to the admin area. There is no need for it. It’s run by Classipress.

It’s a new function to fix blurry images on iPads with the latest WP version. I can only guess the new function is not compatible with your WP version.

Besides this, I can’t help you without your URL and access details.

For support, please email me admin username and password. My email address is at the bottom of the README.txt file. The file that people seem to ignore 🙂

I do not provide support here.
