Spartac, where’s the “fix” you promised me weeks, months ago?

We’ve not heard from you about the typography update. It’s been months…almost 7 months and you promised a fix, and update and yet we’ve not received any solutions. This has been a major disappointment and we’re moving on with another service. This is how AppTheme “VIP” customers get treated? We want our money back immediately for this broken Childe App JOBY. We’ll be waiting for your response and refund.

    Hello Spartac

I am having issues with the map not showing the Town/City in Joby

When i disable Joby and revert back to Jobroller its Fine

I have sent you a support email with images to show what i mean

I hope it does not get ignored like the last time

    • author

      Hi Craig.

I remember we helped you with the city not appearing on the listings, which wasnt an issue but we removed it deliberately and show it on the job single page. we have added that fix.
We take the support and our themes serieusly but lately we rarely receive notifcation of new comments for this we seemstepped away although I am all the time online here.
About Joby and our other products.and in order to enhance the support experiece and for better communication with our customers and to cut of all the talk and make it sufficient .we are going to do the following ( in few minutes).

      – Create a form to receive the big issues and bugs to be fixed urgently ( the form isnt like receiving long will contain only few words.
      – Create a special email for desisable unimplemented features and options or ideas.with a page of the “Accepted to be implemented”
      – We are going to create a release status page and ETA for each theme.
      – We are going to show open tickets for each theme’s issue and how far the work progress is going.
      – IMPORTANT: We just request shorter support tickets with few words and only one email per issue to not delay our responses and actions.
      – You receive details of all the points above , here and we will update our support section on the themes’ pages.
      – This procedure will be applied on all out themes.not only joby.
      – We do not provide support anywhere except by email, it’s being harder to serve everyone here, there, by private messages, and on the forums.
      – Long email doesnt make it sound more just distracts us and getting us out of the point.

      Best regards

I purchased Joby a few days ago through AppThemes and so far I am disappointed. I don’t know where to begin, but based on what I read on your web site, I’m out $49 and a couple of days of my life that I will never get back.

I e-mailed your support early on but did not receive a response. Based on some of the other comments here and what I’ve read on your web site, I beginning to wonder if I will.

1, Is there any documentation for Joby anywhere? If there is, I have not found it.

    2. What few help prompts you have on the back end are not very helpful.

    3. There seems to be no way to completely turn off or disable the slider.

    4. The Search bar overlays the slider, and there is no way to disable the search bar headline and promotion phrase to prevent it from overrunning anything in the slider. This is a problem if the slider image has text, as the phrases overrun the text. Also, there seems to be no way to change the color of the phrases. On a mobile screen, the phrases overlap the header logo. It looks hideous and there is no way to move it or turn it off. If I leave the fields for the phrases empty, Joby inserts the default, hard coded phrases on the site instead.

    5. When enabled, the footer contact banner doesn’t appear in the footer, or anywhere, for that matter. It doesn’t seem to function at all.

    6. There is only one control for footer text color. This means that if the footer background color is white and the bottom bar background color is orange, the text in both the footer and the custom footer must be the same color and the text color in one of those areas will be difficult to read.

    7. The social media icons are fixed at the top of the page. There is no option to add them to the footer.

    8. The Footer Elements Sorter has one option. It is the Contact Banner. Since there is no documentation, I haven’t been able to figure out how to add any other option to the list.

    9. Home Layouts is confusing. When I Enable Custom Content and select a page to display its content on the home page, the content does not appear.

    10. The Tabs Layout supposedly allows me to customize the tabs, but there are only four options to choose from, either Featured Jobs, Just Listed, Jobs Categories or Indeed (Sponsored) Jobs. There seems to be no way to add my own custom option to the lists.

    11. There seems to be no way to turn off the Employer logo thumbnails in Joby. I was unable to locate any setting in the Joby child theme to do this, and when I disabled them in JobRoller, they still show up in the job listings no matter what. No, clearing cache didn’t fix the problem.

    12. Print layout is a mess. If someone wants to print a page from a site using this theme, chances are they won’t be able to read it. images and text run all over each other with little to no formatting. It’s awful.

    13. Joby doesn’t handle pre-existing widget placement well. When it was first installed, It didn’t recognize my previous widget configuration and I had to add my widgets on sidebars in the editor. When I used the Editor and saved it for Joby, the configuration did not save. I had to go into the Widget area and set them up all over again.

    14. Joby doesn’t save changes to the favicon, either. I chose one and it saved fine. When I found another one and wanted to replace the first one, Joby wouldn’t save the new one.

    15. I like the color bar behind the search bar on the rest of the site and want the same look on the home page. If there is a way to do this, I don’t know. There is no documentation.

To summarize, I am very, very disappointed and frustrated with Joby. I’ve used free themes that were much easier to to use than this. I was planning to purchase Flatroller because it looked very clean, had great reviews and was cheaper, but opted for Joby instead because it had been updated more recently. I did this in spite of the pages and pages of comments about the lack of response from support. As I recall, Joby is the most expensive add-on I’ve purchased from the AppThemes Marketplace, and so far it’s been the most problematic. I have never as much trouble from anything I’ve purchased from AppThemes as I have with Joby.

rsavoia, I’m in the same boat as you are… We’ve had problems with Joby from day one and its been months with promise of fixes, but no results, no answers, just false promises. I demanded for my money back for the job ChildApp a few weeks ago …and not a single peep from them. I am looking to see what we can do to sue them. We have no choice; we may have only lost $50.00 with purchasing this broken service, but we’re lost much time and potential revenue over the last 5 months or so. So angry.

    • author

I am very sorry Martin for such feelings.
We had some troubles in our team and 2 out of 3 of our support staff were fired.I was alone on all this (Rahim aka spartac) working on over 14 themes’ updates and fixes and replying tens of ” old” emails and issues daily .
I have hired 2 guys to help me with support and updates and we are all back and better than before.

If I rememeber, it was the typography issue with your theme, wasnt it?
in case you still want your money back, we are sorry to disapoint you this far , but you can contact appthemes to get the full refund.they are managing the sales and refunds not us. I still wish you can stay wth us and see how things have been changed.

We have a list of more than 20+ ticket (issue + feature to add) for joby was never a broken theme and will never be.we will keep enhancing it and you will receive replies from us promptly, if not instantly and on the same second.

  • rsavoia

Spartac, I will reply to your email in the morning.

  • rsavoia

As promised, I sent you an email response. I would have sent it this morning, however based on your reply it seems some of the issues needed to be clarified, so it took me awhile to more fully explain a few. Please read it carefully. Hopefully my recommendations will help improve Joby.

  • rsavoia

Martin, understood. I don’t intend too lose money over this. I did my part. It’s now up to Spartac. The ball is in his court. I hope he does the right thing.

    • author

Rick, I have just replied to your email.
Thanks for all the recommendations which my team and I are taking in prior consideration to improve Joby theme.
We want and we work for an enhancement to the entire website, including the docs to not mislead anyone and for sure to make joby a better theme.
      I appreciate your words.

  • author

pcrgdaddy : The map issue was and is a jobroller one,I replied this many times, if you have the map to work on jobroller, switch to joby , it will work smoothly, the map, the geolocations, the search by location, all these are jobroller functions, joby theme has no code to break or change it..
if you put my hand on the issue with few words, I fix it immediately, I have been doing this for 5 years so far …until I am thinking to reopen the forums for our themes again so customers can see the much of work is spent for supporting our customers..and easily we will be able to track each issue , one by one. and other users can take advantage of the old threads and answers.

None ignores your emails Craig,in my inbox now, i have only 2 unanswered emails ( both are sent this morning).. I replied everyone, including Rick’s email and another email of 15 big questions that I had to reply one by one.
Please try to reach with me here or by email and the issues would be all fixed or at least clarrified.

    Best regards

  • Alex

Apparently the problem is not just me. They should have more consideration with their customers.

I’ve been waiting for emails for months. I even gave up helping to inform the mistakes

1.How does company and job location functions work on the child theme joby?
    2. How does apply online work? is it the same format has jobroller, that is, you register, upload cv and submit to the recruiter.

  • Jacinta

Hi How do you remove the posted by from the blog page from your Joby theme? Thanks

    • author

      @Jacinta .
This is a function by vantage. you can remove it by editing core file of vantage, or you just place this code into directory theme panel => custom css field => paste this one
      .entry-author {
      display: none;

      and save it.

  • rsavoia

Removing my comments is neither fair nor ethical and does not build brand loyalty. It only serves to disenfranchise the customer. I didn’t post the comments to needlessly complain about Joby. I posted them to keep the others who have also had issues with Joby in the loop with my own experience and help them understand that their chances of getting a refund are about as good as mine, which turned out to be zero. I don’t think I was being unreasonable or unfair. Removing the comments is unfair to everyone.

    spartac said:
    “Joby theme works perfectly.
we work to enhance it , we never stopped working on it with the other themes.and if you could open a support ticket with few words on the right support channel ( by email), we will be able to help you instantly by either fixing the bug or explaining the issue.

One more time, I am sorry that our theme didnt work for you but it still does for the rest.”

Are we talking about the same app? Joby theme does NOT work perfectly. If it did, you wouldn’t have so many comments trying to resolve the issues with it. Just look at the number of comments on this thing. Over 300? They’re not all about how great Joby is. I know, I’ve read a lot of them. The theme has issues.

You said it works for the rest, as in everyone else but me? That is not true. I’m not the only one having issues with Joby or the support of it. There are a number of others who are having issues with Joby. I receive e-mail notifications with their posted comments. Apparently you removed them as well, because they are no longer posted here. Are you planning to do the same with every comment you perceive as a negative? If so, in my opinion, that is very unprofessional.

As a paying customer who purchased this child theme, I have a right to comment on my experiences with this app, positive, neutral and negative. I think I’ve been very fair and reasonable, but as pcrgdaddy posted (before you removed it), my patience is also getting thin. Understand that I paid good money for a buggy child theme I can’t use, and the only option is to either give a complete stranger full admin access to poke around the back end of my site to “fix” it or follow your suggestion to go ask the marketplace for a refund and good luck with that, knowing full well they probably won’t honor it, if they respond at all.

I’ve resigned myself to the realization that it is unlikely I will ever receive a return on my investment in Joby, either with a working app or my $49. Spend it wisely. That’s all you will get from me, because I will no longer purchase your apps.

I understand you will probably remove this comment. It would be wrong and unethical to do so, but you obviously have that option. I said nothing derogatory or out of line. I have not been angry nor have I been rude. I’ve just been honest. The comments are for comments, and that is what this is. If you remove this comment, You will also lose something more important than my business. You will lose my respect for you and this marketplace.

I deleted them because it’s not the right place to post all those support tickets.
I answered you all by setting a procedure to follow on how to get support. and believe me, the long messages do not work with us.and honestly, I didn’t read this one ( I won’t delete it, but I won’t read it as well, it’s my right).
We can resolve all this easily.
-You send the bugs/issues you are having with short words => I answer you here and fix them.
-You still think it doesnt work for you => you ask appthemes refund, and you get it and never show up here. It’s fair, né?
-if any other user faces issues, he lists them in few words ( he doesnt need to write a book about it,few words work with us). we fix them and release the update.
-If any one you has an opinion or suggestion, he writes it by eamil ( here he can use long phrases).

What is your problem with it?. Works fine for me….

  • pcrgdaddy

Yes you helped me with city not appearing its now doing same on featured job slider

I have sent screen shots and multiple emails to you which git ignored and no update fix the next day as promised.

I have other sites that have not been fixed as i was promised the update would include this but as said above i was let down once again 🙁

I just want the issue resolved so my sites don’t look unprofessional!!

    I have been very patient

    • author

You got it.I have fixed was set to show only state and country.
I add iy and upload it as a new minor update which you can use for all your websites.

  • aj2703

    Sorry wrong

  • aj2703

    You are right.

My apologies. I was on the classipress theme.

My Joby does not show City either. It seems to default to country when you save the ad as when you put say a postcode in or city in the submit a job form it finds it. It changes when the job is submitted.

I have mailed the developer direct. i am sure hell be along shortly to fix it.

  • aj2703

It is the same on jobster R. Can you update that accordingly and let me know when the others fixes are done too. 🙂

  • pcrgdaddy

Yes its fixed for normal job listings which was much appreciated

Its doing the same for featured job slider not showing city, can you do a fix for this please

    • author

I am going now to upload both joby and jobster.
I was thinking to add it as an option or show only the city. because of the city + state + country contain big names, the loop block would be distroyed and look messy.

  • aj2703

Add them as options R. Then people can choose.

  • pcrgdaddy

Yes that sounds like a really good idea

Just having the city would work best for my sites can you let me know please when its done

  • aj2703

Did you fix the other problem.

  • Alex Tavares

I updated the theme and unconfigured the size of the images. Before it maintained a standard size, now the images occupy giant spaces. Can you check it please.
